Playlist: Collision--Christopher Hitchens vs. Douglas Wilson

I can listen to people argue about religion all day (that's sick, I know) and in this documentary we have two of the best. Christopher Hitchens is a brilliant writer and one of the leading voices in the New Atheism movement. Douglas Wilson is an esteemed theologian and pastor. Together, they wrote the book, Is Christianity Good for the World?, and their resulting public debates form the basis of this film. So, you would think that it's a no-brainer production--just let these two intellectuals talk and roll the cameras.

You would think. Instead, director Darren Doane decided to "direct" and we get shaky cam shots, unflattering angles, and choppy edits. That's on top of oddly poor lighting and terrible sound. All of which does distract from the subject at hand, but in no way lessens the fascinating discussion at its heart. It's doubtful you will be swayed one way or another (I wasn't), but you will see both sides from a new perspective (or at least add some new moves to your own rhetorical repertoire).
